Ray Greene is\u00a0a\u00a0singer, songwriter, producer\u00a0and\u00a0multi-instrumentalist, currently on tour as the\u00a0lead\u00a0singer for\u00a0Carlos Santana<\/strong>.\u00a0He has\u00a0teamed up with\u00a0composer,\u00a0 pianist\u00a0and\u00a0platinum producer Dow Brain<\/strong> to create a\u00a0jazz-influenced holiday recording,\u00a0Tell Me the\u00a0Story of Christmas<\/em>.<\/p>\nWhile the two have collaborated on other projects, this Christmas album, laden with sweet, yet sophisticated jazz\/gospel versions of holiday standards, and three original compositions, is\u00a0a project long desired by both artists. “I’ve wanted to do this album with Ray for a long time; he’s just so incredibly talented” says producer\/pianist Brain.<\/p>\n
The album,\u00a0Tell Me the Story of Christmas<\/em>,\u00a0includes three original compositions penned by Greene and Brain, including the title track. The Christmas classics on the album include “Silent Night,”\u00a0 “Christmas\u00a0Time\u00a0Is Here,” and a stunning African drum version of\u00a0\u201cLittle Drummer Boy.\u201d<\/p>\nBrain and Greene have both done their share of touring with big names.\u00a0\u00a0Greene cut his teeth singing back-up vocals for\u00a0Aretha<\/strong> Franklin<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Rick<\/strong>\u00a0James<\/strong>, and then landed the gig singing with the popular\u00a0Bay area funk band\u00a0Tower of Power<\/strong>. He received a degree in\u00a0Music Performance at\u00a0Berklee College of Music. Even though he was brought\u00a0up\u00a0hearing the great\u00a0soul\/R&B legends of our time,\u00a0Greene\u00a0is equally adept at the traditions of gospel, jazz,\u00a0and blues.<\/p>\nGreene has performed and recorded with several of the most\u00a0successful and influential names in the fields of pop, funk, and R&B: most notably\u00a0Aretha Franklin<\/strong>,\u00a0Natalie Cole<\/strong>, New Kids on the Block<\/strong>, and\u00a0Rick James<\/strong>, to name a few.\u00a0Greene\u00a0was\u00a0the lead vocalist\/trombonist for the legendary soul band\u00a0Tower of Power.<\/strong><\/p>\nGreene\u00a0was honored to perform with Maya Angelou<\/strong>\u00a0at the Boston Opera House. The world\u00a0renown\u00a0poet laureate recruited Greene to perform a capella<\/em> renditions of\u00a0her favorite inspirational hymns to open the engagement.<\/p>\nDOW BRAIN<\/strong>

He\u00a0has\u00a0had a\u00a0precocious love affair with the piano\u00a0since\u00a0age five.\u00a0Brain\u00a0and stellar engineer\/producer\u00a0Brad Young<\/strong>\u2019s company, Underground Productions, Inc. has been operating\u00a0in Boston since 1990 and has earned\u00a0five RIAA certified Platinum and Gold albums and singles, including a\u00a0Platinum single for\u00a0the number-one selling song \u201cSummer Girls,\u201d recorded by LFO<\/strong> on Arista Records while under Clive\u00a0Davis<\/strong>\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n
